LONDON -- Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions has struck a multi-territory deal, including U.S. rights, for Michael Winterbottom's comedy "Bailout," starring Jack Black.SPWA acquired rights for the pic, which is being shopped by U.K.-based sales outfit Ealing Metro, for North America, South America, Australia, South Africa and Scandinavia.Deal was negotiated by Will Machin for Ealing Metro along with SPWA veep of acquisitions and distribution Tana Evans and exec veep of business affairs Michael Helfand.Pic, which was first unveiled to buyers at Cannes earlier this year, is based on Jess Walter's tome "The Financial Lives of the Poets" and is produced by Michael Besman ("About Schmidt"), Melissa Parmenter ("Trishna"), Pryanka Mattoo and Black.Story follows a man, down on his luck, who wakes up to find himself jobless, in serious debt, convinced his wife is having an affair and six days away from losing his home.Pic, produced by shingles Revolution Films, Ballyhoo and Electric Dynamite, is skedded to begin lensing in the U.S. in January.
